The Challenge
Bertram Group is the UK's leading book wholesaler and library supplier.  They asked Encoded to help them with the latest version of their "Call Bertie" automated telephone ordering hotline, used regularly by both major and independent booksellers.  The system has to interrogate product information and live stock levels directly from Bertram's databases, and submit new telephone orders in real-time for immediate fulfilment.
The Solution
Encoded developed the new Call Bertie voice application, successfully integrating with Bertrams' remote databases from our fully-managed IVR hosting environment.  Encoded's IVR systems interrogate Bertram's web services via a secure SSL encryption connection to retrieve and submit data in real-time.  The system was designed to be fast and easy to use for frequent callers to match the customer profile and enhance customer service.
The Result
Bertram Group now has a reliable, cost-effective and dynamic automated telephone ordering hotline which provides customers with up-to-the-minute information and real-time ordering facilities to maximise customer service levels at very low cost.
